Amélie
The menu at this ode to Gallic 'je ne sais quoi' celebrates the best of Provençal cooking, albeit prices are more representative of its location in upmarket Belgravia. Opened as part of a wider renovation of the Pantechnicon building in west London, this former arts and crafts warehouse is now stocked with over 2,000 bottles of delectable vin, including the best of Bordeaux, Tuscany and Napa Valley. There are also 60 different Champagne choices on the list – a perfect foil to Beluga caviar, fresh oysters, steak tartare and scallops. Classy service and hautecouture décor only accentuate the upscale ambience in this beautiful – and already popular – neighbourhood restaurant. Dover sole in a Champagne sauce, orzo with lobster and a veal chop are designed to be shared – if you can bear it. Amélie is open now.

Row on 5
Darling of the fine-dining world and former protégé of Gordon Ramsay, Jason Atherton has brought some of his culinary magic to Saville Row. His latest venture, named after Atherton's ethos of ‘refinement of work’, offers a 15-course tasting menu (£198.50 a head) in suitably chic surroundings, with Orkney scallop, Kaluga caviar and Cornish turbot served alongside bespoke wine pairings. Showcasing the “peak seasons of British produce”, Row on 5 has a cellar to die for. Yet there is room for the esoteric in this temple of haute cuisine, with funky blends and off-the-beaten-track regions promoted as fiercely as Cru Classé Bordeaux, Champagne and Burgundy. Row on 5 is open now – reservations obligatory.

The Brave
Opened on 5 December, The Brave is Islington's newest gastropub, complete with designer ales, premium wines by the glass, and James Cochran's imaginative cooking. Indeed, after cutting his teeth at The Ledbury and The Harwood Arms, Cochran is more than qualified to elevate pub grub to Michelin-starred heights, offering “a fresh take” on the quintessential British boozer. Expect a mixture of updated pub classics and riffs on Cochran's Scottish-Caribbean heritage, with friendly service and a lively atmosphere to boot. A neighbourhood institution beckons.
